Old photography structures

56 Discovered works of art
When Joseph N. Niépce succeeded in capturing the first photograph in 1826, the chosen motif was the view from his study. After eight hours of exposure, the outlines of roofs and houses were visible on a faint print. From this day on, the technology of photography and its application developed so rapidly that already in the middle of the nineteenth century artists moved out into the world and everything was photographed for the first time. Above all, the artist Felix Tournachon, famous under the stage name Nadar opened the spectrum of "painting with light" and experimented with light sources to represent the Parisian underground. At the same time it took him high in the air and photographed the rooftops of Paris from a hot air balloon. Unfortunately, a ride became a fatal accident and he died in an accident with a balloon.

The photography of buildings was ideal for the beginnings of photography, long exposure times and heavy equipment made buildings a popular motif. The construction of the Eiffel Tower was documented as photographically as the time when the Golden Gate Bridge took shape.

Architectural masterpieces belong to the most popular photo motives until modern times, which later actually create a work of art on the walls of the observer. First and foremost is the Guggenheim Museum, followed by St. Peter's Basilica, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. They are often relics of yesteryear, which captured the old photography of the buildings. The Berlin-based photographer Leopold Ahrendts created with his Berlin cityscape photography works that depict a timeless snapshot that are not repeatable. From 1850 Ahrendts moved through Berlin and he caught impressions of the landmarks of Berlin. Fairytale lonely show the Brandenburg Gate and the opera house.
